Christine Smith

From tiny penguins to ceramics large enough to sit on, I never cease to be amazed by the versatility of clay. Extruded forms, incised marks, poured and sprayed layers of slips, all contribute to my ceramic compositions. I enjoy the use of bold images, which seek to reflect and augment the shape and character of each piece, following the rhythm of the form. Recently some of my themes have burst out of their two dimensional boundaries, overflowing from the confines of a dish, to become free standing pieces.
