Martin Miles-Moore

Martin Miles-Moore

My work is inspired by the Japanese Shibui aesthetic of simple, subtle and unobtrusive beauty.
Over the last thirty years I have developed a range of unique glazes, all using local materials collected from the Cumbrian coast, woodland, fells and rivers.

What to Expect: Studio visitors will see a range of Japanese inspired forms including traditional Chawan, Yunomi, Sushi and Sashimi platters, Sake sets, large bowls and hand built bottles.
If space allows I plan to do regular Raku firing demonstrations including Japanese and American style firings.

Visitors will be able to take part in a Haiku writing competition to win a traditional Yunomi style tea bowl.
