I am interested in how our response to paintings is dependent on our prior expectation of what an art subject can be. I am drawn to objects or places that have pattern or beauty as a result of functional design, as opposed to any deliberate aesthetic choice.

My recent work has focussed on documenting decaying buildings in Dumfries and Galloway and beyond. In doing this I hope to give fleeting moments a permanence they would not usually be afforded.
