Engaging with place, locality and nature slowly, I make colourful oil paintings: 'local paintings' - in the sense that initial inspiration comes from walks and views from windows wherever I am - visiting Colonsay this year, before moving from the Dumfriesshire hills to a cottage in Galloway. Recent notebooks and sketchbooks record images and ideas, particularly this year from walks in the nearby Urr valley, from the source of the river in the wild moors to the wide estuary in the Solway Firth.
