Jeremy Carlisle: Enjoy and Be Passionate

Painter Jeremy Carlisle is a past participant and a member of Spring Fling, he also participated in Spring Fling’s LI-LO Pecha Kucha lecture series in assiciation with University of Glasgow, Dumfries Campus. Jeremy has studied, exhibited and been commissioned internationally as well as teaching in art schools and universities including the University of Glasgow.

SF: Where do you make?

Landscapes in the land – abstracts in the studio. 

I let myself be taken to different places according to my mood and the season. I have lived in Galloway for nearly 25 years.

SF: What inspires you?

Nature and the surprise of what is familiar becoming unfamiliar.

SF: Where do you go for a break from the hard work as an artist? (Could be a 10min cuppa or a 3-month holiday)

The Cally Woods and the trampoline in my garden.

SF: What is on the horizon for you locally?

Starting a commission of a series of abstract paintings.

SF: What is on the horizon for you nationally / internationally?

A trip to Dublin to look at possible future residencies.

SF: What advice would you give to an up-and-coming artist?

Enjoy and be passionate.
