Lisa Hooper

My studio is a large space in my Victorian home, close to the sea in West Galloway. I have two presses: one for relief printing (lino and woodcuts) and one for intaglio printing (etchings and collagraphs).

About My Practice

I make small edition, large prints, using reduction lino and woodcuts and etchings. Most of my work is inspired by wildlife, which is my lifelong passion; and travels in Scotland, particularly to the Northern Isles. I’ve been a printmaker for about 30 years and have tried just about every print medium. I’ve been a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists since 2019.

Tools & Materials

I use traditional etching methods (zinc plate, rosin aquatint, hard ground and oil-based inks). For my relief prints I use water-based inks and traditional lino-cutting tools. I use grey lino and floor ply for my relief prints.
