Having participated in Spring Fling since 2004, Will Levi Marshall trained in ceramics and has exhibited internationally as a ceramicist with his work in many significant public and private collections. His recent interest focuses on architectural public art projects and he has frequently been commissioned for projects that are not limited to ceramics. In 2005 he worked with architect John Crallan and completed designing and building his award winning home/studio The Holm. He teaches frequently at University level and will talk at the Looking-In Looking-Out lecture.

Based in SW Scotland nr Auchencairn in bespoke purpose built studio.

SF: Why do you make where you do & How long have you worked here?
Based here for 20 yrs. I enjoy, the people, the place, and the peace.
SF: What inspires you?
Working with interesting people and challenging briefs.
SF: Where do you go for a break from the hard work as an artist?
I like to fly fish in our beautiful rivers for salmon and trout and wildfowl on the windy foreshore for the odd duck for the pot.
SF: What is on the horizon for you locally?
Plenty of small community based projects on the go. Mainly working with schoolchildren and creating landmarks and sculptures from a collaborative process
SF: What is on the horizon for you nationally / internationally?
Still very involved with the New South Glasgow Hospital project designing the floors and colour strategy… It will be Europe’s largest hospital on completion.
SF: What advice would you give to an up-and-coming artist?
Never forget to leave plenty of time in projects for mucking around and having fun. That’s where it all stems from.
SF: What’s currently playing on your studio ipod / cd player / tape deck / record player?
Last album I bought was a couple of weeks ago and it was “the very best of ethiopiques” obscure Hypnotic Grooves from the Legendary Series of Ethiopian jazz.
SF: Tell us something not many people know about you
I was once a drummer in a blues band under the synonym “Wild Will”
