Couch: Floral Stretch Covered House by Alice Francis

 

This year, as part of our 10th Birthday celebrations we have commissioned installation artist Alice Francis to create a temporarypublic artwork.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Highly visible to passers-by, Alice will cover atraditional Galloway cottage in an archetypal floral sofa stretch cover, tailored to fit the building tightly so as to accentuate its contours and details. Alice will be talking about the process involvedin creating of this artwork over the Spring Fling weekend on Spring Fling website soon.</p>
<p style="text-align: left;">This artwork is located at DG7 1QF, near Doach Woods on the B736, 3miles south east of Castle Douglas towards Palnackie and Auchencairnon the A711. Parking is available a few yards away at Doach Woods Forestry commission car park. Park here and walk along the road to seethe Artwork, which can also be viewed from above and behind, from the Doach path.Visitors to this artwork may like to walk on of the two walking circuits in Doach Woods &ndash; a forest dominated by colossal Douglas Firs. The yellow route is 3km long and takes in a stunning viewpoint that looksacross the Solway Firth to the Lake District hills.</p>

Highly visible to passers-by, Alice will flout convention by UPHOLSTER A TRADITIONAL GALLOWAY COTTAGE IN AN ARCHETYPAL FLORAL STRETCH COVER tailored to fit the building tightly so as to accentuate its contours and details. Materials will be supplied by Plumbs.

Alice will be talking about the process involved in the creation of this artwork at 'Beer + Blethers on The Brewing of Creative Ideas and Processes' between 7-9pm Friday 1 June at The Sulwath Brewery in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway. We are delighted to announce that creative geniuses Matt Baker and Tim Taylor will join us at Beer and Blethers - read more about it here.
