Ruth Elizabeth Jones – Hand-built Smoke-fired Ceramics (Part 1)

Come and produce a vessel using the ancient coil building method. This is a 3-part workshop across three Sundays, with an optional 4th session.
The aims of the workshop are:
- To introduce the coil building method, explain the history and show examples of contemporary work.
- To demonstrate the technique and for all participants to produce a reasonably sized piece.
- To introduce the smoke firing method and complete a smoke firing at the studio
Need to know:
Each session of this workshop is in the afternoon so make sure you have lunch before you come, but you are welcome to bring a snack with you. Wear old clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty or bring an apron. Materials included
Tickets are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, the ticket can be transferred to another attendee. Workshops require a minimum number of tickets to be sold in order to go ahead. If this number has not been met, Upland will need to cancel or postpone the workshop. In the event of cancellation, ticket price (minus processing fee) will be refunded.
