Spring Fling is a vibrant visual art and craft open studios event covering the length and breadth of Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland; it is highly regarded as one of the UK's most successful visual art and craft events. The 2018 event took place from the 26 - 28 May when carefully selected Artists & Makers opened their doors to visitors showcasing their work throughout the Dumfries and Galloway area.

The open studios event is produced by Upland CIC as its annual flagship event, and it 2017 it brought around 30,000 unique visitors to D&G across its's three days and more than £1.7 million to the regional economy.

This year a range of artists and makers spanning the region opened their studios to the public, offering insights, exclusives, demonstrations and the opportunity to buy directly from the studio. The open studio weekend celebrates arts and crafts in Dumfries and Galloway, a region with a recognised high number of high quality artists and makers. Joining these local artists will be a handful of artists and makers from neighbouring regions (through our Neighbour Scheme) and those with links to Spring Fling and/or the region (through the Springback Scheme).

As a region-wide event that draws visitors from all over, we understand the importance of making the event as accessible as possible.

The core of the event is 'open studios' which primarily involves going to the homes of artists and makers to see where they work, or to venues that are not open to the public on a daily basis. We can't get our participants to make their homes or studios more accessible, but we can highlight if there are any issues regarding accessing their studio. Where artists and makers from out with the region have joined us, we have tried to source accessible locations for them to use also. We've tried to do this as well as we can, and we hope it will be of benefit to visitors. Please get your copy of the Spring Fling 2018 brochure for this information.

If you have any concerns regarding access to this event, please contact Joanna Macaulay: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
