Amanda Simmons: Norway Teaching Trip
22nd June 2012Glass artist and Spring Fling member Amanda Simmons has just returned from a post Spring Fling teching trip in Norway. Here's what she told us about her experience:
“With just one day to prepare after a very hectic Spring Fling I headed off to Norway for the first time to teach a 3 day kiln formed vessel course. Glass forum is based on a very small island up on the west coast of Norway near the famous Atlantic Road, with many similarities with Scotland in terms of climate and scenery, just much bigger hills! The views from my house and studio in Kvernes were stunning, having to remind myself each time I looked out of the window that it was real and not a poster. A brilliant course with very proficient students even though my Norwegian is non-existent we managed with much sign language and a mutual general passion and understanding of glass. The course sold out in 2 days so will be heading back there next Spring.”
