Opportunities

In 2011 Spring Fling were awarded a two-year funding package from LEADER and The Holywood Trust to launch The Springboard Project. This exciting project will see us embarking on the inaugural Spring Fling Young Artists Bursary Programme, an opportunity for recent graduates with a connection to Dumfries and Galloway to take part in Spring Fling and recieve 15 days of mentoring from a professional Spring Fling artist.

Additionally, throughout the two-year project we will be taking Spring Fling artists into schools, colleges and universities to host workshops and lectures; encourgaing young people studying in the creative industries to consider a career as an artist or maker, and promoting the benefits of living and working in beautiful, rural Dumfries and Galloway. We will also be taking Spring Fling artists into a variety of venues throughout the region to host community outreach workshops.

Furthermore, as part of the Springboard Project, we will, in March 2012 introduce both The Spring Fling Smartphone App, and we will be adding a web shop to our website; allowing purchases of artists work to be made throughout the year.

Spring Fling Members (anyone who has ever taken part in the event may become a member) will be eligible to apply and put proposals forward for community and school/college/university workshops and lectures. Selected Spring Fling artists will be eligible to apply to become a mentor as part of the Young Artists Bursary Programme.

The application process for these extra opportunities open to Spring Fling Members will begin from the start of Novemeber 2011, and continue throughout 2012.
