Spring Fling is marketed as a unique opportunity for the public to visit artists and makers in their studios, see how they work and buy or commission artwork. With this year's Spring Fling just passed, we are still collecting the data, so the following relates to last year - our most successful year to date!

In 2016 there were 40,549 studio visits equating to 13,516 unique visitors with sales across all studios over the weekend totalling £216,000. The event contributed over £1.5million to the local economy in 2016, making it the most successful year to date. Spring Fling team is committed to operating an effective press and marketing campaign to attract visitors to the region for the Spring Fling weekend and to raise awareness of the event amongst local residents – 51% of our visitors come from the rest of the UK and beyond.

With national exhibitions in Edinburgh, Newcastle and Berlin and Spring Fling Rural Mural gaining national press profile, in 2016 we achieved national and local coverage valued at £121,744.63, reaching over 3 million audience. It is anticipated that the Spring Fling 2017 press strategy will include a regional press and media campaign, advertising in specialist arts press and coverage in national newspapers and magazines.
