My practice focuses on obsolescence, on remnants of military and industrial presence within rural and urban Scotland. I am influenced by the concepts of preservation, the displaced within an ever-changing society, the idea of ordinary places witnessing extraordinary circumstances and leaving behind portals to the past.
What to expect: A variety of mixed media works, using reclaimed industrial materials such as steel, concrete and wood. The studio will contain a selection of art work along with my process of making art and an insight into local history. Sharing with Andy Priestman.
Directions: A714 north from Newton Stewart for 7 miles. Turn right at Clachaneasy for 2 miles. Minniwick is a right hand turn directly after a sign for Holm Farm.
Recommendation: If coming from Stranraer: Fig and Olive is an independent and locally owned cafe with a brilliant Australian chef whose aim’s to bring something different to SW Scotland.
