I use laminated wood veneers to make wooden mobiles. I’m often inspired by a poem, but the pieces change as I make them. I enjoy hinting at shapes and combining images; flames become feathers, birds become fish parts. The movement is also a vital consideration.
What to expect: Visitors will be able to see the tools, equipment and processes involved in creating a mobile. Small card kits will be available for children (and adults) to colour in and make bird mobiles of their own to take home. There will also be refreshments!
Directions: From Auchencairn take the 711 towards Dundrennan. After 3.5 miles take the next right turn. We’re the third house on the right. West Kirkcarswell House is marked on the gatepost.
Accessibility: The house is wheelchair accessible but the toilet is not.
Recommendation: The Rose and Crown in Dundrennan is a wonderful café. Great cakes and a friendly atmosphere.
