PRESS RELEASE : Spring Fling at 10

Spring Fling arts and crafts open studios event is celebrating its 10th birthday. Some 76 studios across Dumfries and Galloway will be open to the public over the Jubilee holiday from 2-5 June. The event has helped earn the region a reputation as a hotbed of talent.

In 2003 around 1,347 people made 4,040 studio visits. Last year 11,000 people made 31,250 visits. In total Spring Fling has attracted 66,500 people who made 194,000 studio visits.

Spring Fling has earned £4.88 million for the local economy. In 2003 visitors spent £57,500; by 2011 it was £781,500. This goes on everything from arts to accommodation.

Every £1 invested by public bodies and other organisations results in £15.14 of spending.
