CREATE 2024

CREATE is a scheme which awards free entry into Spring Fling for artists working in installation, experimental or site-specific work that doesn’t necessarily fit within the ‘traditional’ or  ‘typical’ open studios setting.

The programme was first launched at the 2023 event as a way to support artists and makers working in these disciplines, to make the event more accessible to a broader range of artists and to widen the event’s offering for visitors. Upland hopes to emphasise that although Spring Fling is for many participants a way of generating income, it can also be a platform to showcase exciting, less commercial work.

The selected artists for 2024 are BEA LAST and HOPE LONDON.

Bea Last

Bea will be based at Gracefield Art Centre in Dumfries for Spring Fling, where she will be working on what she refers to as Sculptural Drawing Installations, pushing the boundaries of traditional drawing to create more sculptural forms.
