Located in Dumfries, just a few minutes walk from the rail station and town centre, Gracefield offers a year-round wide ranging programme of contemporary art and craft exhibitions together with shows selected from our permanent collection of Scottish art.
Set in open grounds with plenty parking it has the wonderful cafe Hubbub, craft shop, printmakers’ workshop, kids and adult art and craft activities and studio rooms to hire – a great hub of artistic engagement for all ages.
Normal opening is Tues-Sat 10am-5pm, and admission to exhibitions is always free, but we are currently closed to visitors until further notice. Gracefield is run by the Arts and Museums team of Dumfries and Galloway Council, and is the office addresses for the DGArts Festival, Upland CIC and Access Art.
While we are in lockdown, we are focussing on Facebook to share information and videos on exhibitions, ideas for kids and adult art activities, images from our collection and ‘throwback’ Thursday, where we look back at some of the fantastic shows we’ve had in the past, from local artists solo shows, to national touring shows from the Tate Gallery.
Most of the makers we feature in our craft shop are also involved with Spring Fling so you’ll find lots of details there, but our shop coordinator is posting her ‘Craft shop corner’ focus features. We don’t know when we’ll be able to re-open, but we are working behind the scenes to be able to throw open the doors when we can welcome back all our user groups and visitors and enjoy your company again.
