I am an artist working with wood. My art practice developed through discovery and this led to me substituting paper for wood and the pencil for a hot wire. My response to the natural environment is evident in my chosen medium of wood.
My work is realistic in style and I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture intricate detail, textural contrasts, light, depth and mood. My inspiration stems from the natural environment, especially nature’s beautiful structures. I am surrounded by inspiring scenery from beaches to lochs, woods to glens, moorlands and hillsides. I am very lucky to pursue art as my career. It has always been a great source of enjoyment and relaxation for me and has become a true passion in life.
I have undertaken a variety of commissioned work including illustrations for books and leaflets. My work has been displayed and sold in various venues within the public and private sectors throughout the UK.
I can accept commissions ranging from Portraits to Landscapes, Animals, Buildings, Book Illustrations, Murals etc. If you would like to commission a Portrait I will need:
A clear, well focused photograph/s, preferably with the subjects head 2″ in size. The larger the photo, the better the quality of the portrait.
If possible use natural lighting and try and take the photo on their level – natural photographs can convey much more that your normal snapshot. It would be helpful if one or more photos were supplied, including close-ups to enable me to see the detail.
All drawings are created on high quality, acid free paper.
Prices start from £100.
