Over the last six years I have had the chance to explore new materials and to work on several interesting projects. Having spent many years working with clay this has been quite an adventure. I am now back with clay and a new collaboration.
Collaborations are a source of inspiration, an exciting part of creativity and vital to the exploration of new ideas and new ways of working. The lyrical landscape paintings by Suzanne Stuart Davies have inspired a body of work that will extract shapes, colour and textures from abstract elements within parts of a painting. These elements are digitally synthesised to arrive at a resemblance that is reminiscent of the original image. These images, printed on to ceramic transfer paper or cut to make stencils and applied over a glazed surface will influence and enhance the texture and colour of new ceramic forms, forms that spring from memories of walked landscapes, of abandoned rural buildings and found objects
