Alison Corfield
I am a mixed-media textile artist with a studio in the centre of Kirkcudbright. I make framed abstract artworks based on surfaces shaped by the sea and the wind: it is about the visual textures left behind.

About My Practice
I love to explore the landscape of Dumfries and Galloway with my sketchbook, especially the coastal edges. In my studio I create collages with recycled fabrics and papers, colour them with paint and dyes before adding machine stitched marks.
Tools & Materials
I like to use recycled fabrics and papers in my pieces and I keep and use every tiny scrap. I collect vintage threads which I use to stitch. My main tool is my Bernina sewing machine which I use for free-machine work.
