About My Practice

I work outdoors whenever possible, gathering information in the form of annotated sketches, drawings and small colour studies which I develop in the studio. My preferred subject matter is the Galloway Landscape and the South of France. I also enjoy the challenges of still life in my studio. My principle influences have been the Scottish Colourists, Cubism and the Modernist School of St Ives.

Tools & Materials

I work almost exclusively in oils, using the finest paints and brushes available. However, over the years I have experimented with monoprints and offset drawings using printer's ink on glass plates.
