Janet Ibbotson

Textiles • Purple Route

I design, tailor, and sometimes embroider pure wool into jackets and coats. Each garment can be made in other colours to suit the customer and also made to measure. Also I felt and embroider sheer pashmina to create deliciously soft and luxurious scarves.

My Practice

I have been a designer and maker of tailored womens clothes for many years. When I moved to Scotland, I was very inspired by the beautiful nature around me and the local fabrics and put my heart and soul into everything I make.

Tools & Materials

I work from a restored bothy in my leafy flower garden, where I design, cut patterns, sew, hand felt and finish all my garments, which range from cashmere, exquisitely embroidered pashminas to a range of jackets and dress coats tailored to fit and made to my customers’ choice of colours in a wide range of tweeds from Scotland and the north of England.
