Julie Hollis
I am constantly inspired by the beauty of nature, focusing mostly on views surrounding my home. I use a variety of media to express that, although my fallback is always to paint.

About My Practice
My practice can appear quite eclectic at times, but a common thread of nature ties it all together. I enjoy taking photographs, which I use in my studio, as well as gathering woodland and shoreline detritus, to both inform and become part of my work. My current focus is on the creation of collages. I use my own scanned paintings and combine these with photographed textures to create layers of translucent imagery.
Tools & Materials
As I use paint, print, paper, wool and also computer technology to explore a theme, I have tools for each of these disciplines. I now work exclusively with mineral and plant derived pigments, creating my own inks and paints.
