Liz Dagg
My work is inspired by nature and the outdoors I endeavour to capture a personal feeling/movement of a place. I have many interests and love experimenting, creating moody seascapes, different landscapes and flowers, whatever draws me to that particular subject. My love of colour and texture is evident in my paintings and I endeavour to capture a personal feeling, especially the energy and movement of the place. I am a keen gardener and walker which is all part of my creative process.

About My Practice
I am a painter/mixed-media artist who takes inspiration from spending time at a location, gathering important ideas. Colour and texture are noted along with different mark-making sketches. Sometimes these are completed at the scene, – usually in gouache – but more often they are finished in the studio. I am particularly drawn to seasonal changes, especially heavy seas. I really enjoy experimenting with different media, colours, and textures. Trees, wild flowers and the garden also inspire me. I am always interested in trying new ideas or techniques and take advantage of workshops that are available locally.
Tools & Materials
I often use a selection of tools: brushes, cloths, palette knives and scrapers, depending on the medium I am using, to get a desired finish. I sometimes add collage, inks, acrylics or oil paint for semi-abstract mixed-media pieces. Sketchbooks are very important to me for stimulation and motivation as part of the creative process including life drawing images.
