Lizzie Farey

I create contemporary wall pieces and 3D forms that are inspired by the willow I grow and other natural materials such as birch, hazel and bog myrtle.

About My Practice

My practice explores my relationship with nature. Using my own grown varieties of willow and other local woods I create sculptures and wall pieces which allow the subtleties of these beautiful materials to reveal themselves.

Tools & Materials

My favourite tools to harvest my willow are Felco No. 2 Secateurs, and Japanese side cutters. Once the willow comes in from the field, I dry it outside then soak it in a large cattle trough to make it flexible enough to use.
