Painting & Drawing / Mixed Media • Pink Route

My abstract work focuses on texture, light and mark-making, striving to express conceptual themes. Working in mixed media, my painting technique has loosened, all the better to realise these key qualities.

And with a greater sense of expressive freedom, ideas bubble up and grow.

My Practice

Over the last two years my mixed media practice has developed around ideas of breath, connection and sense of place. My oil paintings, monotype prints and watercolours have been driven by preparatory work which I gathered during a self-directed residency at the Caerlaverock Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust site on the Solway coast at the end of 2019.

My practice continues to evolve as I explore new ways of working.

Tools & Materials

Currently I am still mainly working from my makeshift studio at home. The size of the space limits the size of paintings on large wood panels that I can comfortably make. However I have supplemented with watercolours, monotype printing and collage on paper and this exploration has certainly broadened my practice in unexpected and gratifying ways.
