I paint in acrylics and oils in many thin glazes to achieve effects of luminosity and intensity of colour in my varied subjects, inspired by myth and fairytale, by the landscapes of the Borderlands, and by my small jungle of a garden.

My Practice
I paint nature, fantasy and botanical subjects, in great detail. I am increasingly combining the three facets of my inspiration to explore the boundaries between fantasy and reality, to reawaken in the viewer a childhood sense of wonder.
Tools & Materials
I work at my easel, surrounded by reference sketches and my own photos. I paint mostly with sable brushes, in acrylics on illustration board or heavy paper, both hot pressed for smoothness, and in oils on fine grained canvas or sanded wood panels.

Spring Fling Activity
Visitor numbers permitting, I will be demonstrating at intervals throughout the weekend, and I’m always happy to answer questions about tools and methods.
