I am a multi-disciplinary artist producing work that at its heart has a ‘Hero’. In my work the Hero is a theme, style, subject matter, idea or method. It should bring focus to a subject hopefully motivating us to create a personal connection.

My Practice
I have been working on a project around a single oak tree, spending 3 years photographing it where it stood in a large farmed field. The isolation allowed me to capture it from many different angles, in unusual weather conditions and qualities of light. Since the tree was toppled by Storm Katie, I have set about using the oak wood and the photographs in exploratory ways.
Tools & Materials
Having recently moved from Kent, I now work in both what was a small commercial kitchen and a cluttered former byre, where I continue to explore using the oak wood and photography in combinations of different ways. For materials, I use resin, oak tree materials, including oak charcoal, oak wood, sawdust, degraded oak wood along with paper, film and various metal leaf including gold and tin.

Spring Fling Activity
I’m fortunate to be represented by a number of galleries so continue to produce work for them which helps drive my process. I would be happy to engage and explain some of the processes I have developed and use in this project and would invite you to drop by to view some of the finished pieces and any that are in production.
