Sarah Louise Plant

I moved into a 150-year-old stone cottage in Wigtownshire in 2022 and had built a bespoke garden room art studio which looks out over the garden, the wildlife and fields beyond. I’m in my forties and in my element producing artwork and enjoying the garden birds, surrounded by beautiful countryside.

About My Practice

I love exploring our natural world, taking photos of breath-taking sunrises, the rugged coastline and the rolling hills of south-west Scotland. I enjoy mixing a fresh palette every day and creating colourful landscape paintings. I have the cleanest studio and apron known, as I am a neat freak and love a good clean-down at the end of each painting day.

Tools & Materials

Not many have usually heard of my favoured medium which is a water-mixable oil paint. I use flat-headed brushes which help when I reach the final details of adding colourful marks across the horizontal water and upright swathes to grassland.

Spring Fling Activity

I will be happily mixing, painting and chatting over the weekend. Through my big picture window visitors can view the garden birds feeding and enjoy time outside amongst the peaceful cottage planting. There will be a live nest camera and I shall have bird ID cards available for any budding birdwatchers.
