Installation / Painting & Drawing • Orange Route • New in 2022

I’m interested in objects that are broken or rendered obsolete and worthless. I look at their previous uses and play with meanings and word associations to inform the finished piece . My aim is to turn bits of “rubbish” into objects of desire. I also paint.

My Practice

I rely on the generosity of friends and neighbours who donate their “rubbish” for me to play with. I look at the history of the object, any symbolism and word play revolving around a subject. The results of my work are dictated by the materials used.

Tools & Materials

My studio is a glorified dump of other peoples’ unwanted objects. I like to leave things out on any available surface so that they wink at me and prompt me with ideas and word associations. I often have many works in progress at any one time. Paints lie side by side with broken china, old keys, feathers….you name it! It may look messy but then my brain ultimately likes to make order from it all .
