Workshops & Demonstrations

For SF | At Home we were delighted to present a suite of online workshops and demonstrations covering a range of topics and appealing to a mix of ages.

These workshops and demos were FREE to watch and take part in from 18-25 May on the Spring Fling website. Now, they are available only to Friends of Spring Fling until the 31st June 2020.

Making Your Mark with Bella Green

This two-part workshop is an exploration of mark making for drawing and painting. Attendees will be guided through the importance of mark-making, with demonstrations from Bella. In part two, Bella goes on to discuss using marks to create form, space and feeling, including a demonstration and exercises.


Drawing under Lockdown with Liz Gilbey

Join Liz Gilbey as she delivers two short tutorials introducing some simple drawing techniques to use at home.

The videos will guide you through setting up a still life and progresses from starting a drawing to creating a kitchen table still life of several objects in colour. These videos are suitable for audiences of all ages and abilities and use basic materials.


Mask Making with Livy Nelson

Join Livy for this fun workshop using materials found around the house to make a mask. This workshop is aimed at both adults and kids and would fit perfectly into your home schooling routine!


Juice Box House Workshop with Emily Tough
Your making possibilities are endless, the things in your home, and much of what could end in your bin are valuable art making materials! Heres how to papermachie and decorate an old juice box to make your own model home!


Demonstration of Paper Batik with Pamela Grace

A short demonstration featuring the process Pamela has developed in her own work of creating “Paper-batiks” using gouache paint as a resist, Indian ink, chalk pastels on good quality watercolour paper.


Paper Weaving with Janet Hughes

Janet Hughes is a weaver, join her as she changes from her usual textiles to weaving in paper. This workshop is accessible to all ages and uses readily available materials.


Join Blossom for A Portrait in Isolation.
Blossom is exploring the theme of isolation and how this time is great for portraiture, whether this is a self portrait or one of someone in your household. In this demonstration Blossom will show the development of her portrait, her sketchbook and offer helpful instructions on creating your own portrait.
