Every year, Spring Fling is proud to work with local venues and businesses who support the programme. Whether hosting artists and makers, or providing places to stop for refreshments or a stroll in the May sunshine, our partners help to make Spring Fling unique and celebrate all that Dumfries & Galloway has to offer.

    Demijohn

    Demijohn is one of the places that makes Spring Fling feel bigger than a trail of studios. At Glenlair Steading, artists show work in a setting with its own story and sense of place, while visitors can spend time there and discover the Pink Route. It brings together art, making, local history and a proper day out.

    The Barhwillanty Estate

    The Barwhillanty Estate is a working family estate owned and run by  Maria and Oscar Yerburgh, 5000 acres of woodlands and fields nestled into the folds of the Galloway hills. In 2026, the beautiful walled garden played host to FLOCK, a ceramics project engaging young people across the region.

    Old School Thornhill

    The Old School is part of the local fabric of Thornhill. Its involvement in Spring Fling helps artists be visible in the town and gives visitors another reason to stop, look around and spend time there. It is a simple but important part of how the event works, local spaces making room for artists and helping the weekend feel properly rooted in the communities it passes through.

    Galloway House Gardens

    The 50 acres of stunning seaside gardens occupy a special position on Wigtown Bay, close to the village of Garlieston, and date back to 1740. For Spring Fling 2026, the gardens hosted an installation which responded to the stunning location: From Tree to Sea by traditional boatbuilder Gail McGarva.

    Kirkudbright Galleries

    Kirkcudbright Galleries connects Spring Fling to the town’s much longer artistic story. The relationship gives visitors a way to join up what they discover during the weekend with the wider creative life of Kirkcudbright, and gives artists a place within that bigger picture. It is about connecting open studios, galleries, artists and audiences and showing that the work does not begin and end over one weekend.

    Moffat Distillery

    Moffat Distillery feels a natural partner for Spring Fling because the event and the distillery both begin with making. It gives artists a different kind of platform and gives visitors a chance to move between creative practice, local produce and the wider life of Moffat and Beyond in the Red Route. It helps make the Red Route feel connected to the town, rather than simply passing through it.

    Old Mill Arts

    Old Mill Arts is already a place for creativity, making and people coming together, which makes it a natural part of Spring Fling. It connects artists with an audience that is already interested in creative activity, while giving visitors somewhere to pause, explore and encounter work in a different setting. It helps show that Spring Fling is not only about individual studios it is also about the wider creative ecology of Dumfries and Galloway.

Become a Spring Fling Partner

Bring new visitors, audiences and customers to your business or organisation and benefit from the national and international reach of Spring Fling

Become part of a network of community organisations, businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals who are working for the benefit of the region 

Bring cultural credibility to your organisation by supporting the local community of professional artists and makers across Dumfries and Galloway 

  • Anyone with a suitable space in Dumfries & Galloway can apply. You could be a café, shop, community hall, gallery, visitor attraction, farm, historic building or somewhere completely different. You don’t need to be an arts venue or have hosted an artist before.

  • Spaces can be all shapes and sizes. What works will depend on the artist and their work, so it doesn’t need to look like a traditional gallery. The information and photographs you provide will help us identify suitable matches. 

  • Upland will look at the venues offered alongside participating artists who need a space. If we think there could be a good match, we’ll introduce you to the artist. You can then discuss the practical arrangements directly and decide whether it works for you both. 

  • No. It will depend on the artists looking for venues and whether we can find a suitable match. 

  • There is no fee to submit a venue proposal or to be matched with an artist. Any practical or financial arrangements between the venue and artist should be agreed directly between you. 

  • Host venues need to be open to Spring Fling visitors for the full event opening hours on 29–31 May 2027, with access for the artist to set up beforehand and take down afterwards.

  • Hosting an artist gives your venue a place within the wider Spring Fling weekend and can bring new visitors through your doors. Relevant venue information will also be included alongside the artist in Spring Fling visitor information. 

  • Yes. We’re happy to hear ideas, whether that’s food or refreshments, visitor information, walking or cycling links, or something else that fits naturally with your venue. There’s no expectation to provide anything beyond the space. 

  • Artists and makers presented as part of Spring Fling must have been selected through the Spring Fling application process. If your venue normally displays or sells other artists’ work, or you’re unsure how this applies, please get in touch with us. 

  • We’ll review venue proposals alongside artist applications. If we identify a possible match, we’ll contact you and introduce you to the artist.
