Friend Friendly Studios
When visiting studios in 2012 please look out for posters advertising the studio as ‘Friend Friendly’. This means that as a Spring Fling Friend you could be offered such things as discounts on selected art works, free greeting cards with every purchase, reduced rates on limited edition prints, or a prize draw for Friends only to win a free art work. Each studio could be offering you something different so please make sure you identify yourself to take advantage of this (see below).
Membership Number
In the Spring Fling Friend Friendly studios you will be asked to present your Friendship Card with your unique Friendship number - you will receive this in the post after you sign-up.
Workshops & Prizes
Some of our artists have very kindly offered to provide a special workshop and exclusive prize draws to our Friends.
The lucky participants and winners:
- Port William artist & printmaker Lisa Hooper offered the opportunity for one of our Friends to spend a day with her, one to one, in her fully equipped studio learning one of the techniques she uses - batik on paper, a line or wood cut print, or etching on zinc. The lucky winner was Spring Fling Friend, Anna MacOustra from Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway, who will work with Lisa on 13th February 2012.
- Jeweller Erwin Van't Hoff offered Friends of Spring Fling the chance to win a screenprint by the late Mohawk artist Daniel Fuller called 'In The Spirit of Brotherhood'. The winners of this print were Spring Fling Friends Mr & Mrs McLean from Glasgow.
Upcoming workshops and prize draws:
- Spend an afternoon in April 2012 with potter Hannah McAndrew.
Hannah will extend an invitation to our Friends this year for afternoon tea, to witness the opening and unpacking of her new unique wood fired kiln. She has been building it for months, a real labour of love, and has just completed it. The opening of any kiln has an element of surprise and excitement, and you can be reassured that Hannah’s enthusiasm for her art will make it A Happening. We will let you know when the finer details are on the website.
