Julie Hollis
I work with a variety of materials, exploring the effect that changing weather conditions have on a scene. Contrasts of light and colour particularly fascinate me and can result in the creation of some intense landscapes.

About My Practice
My practice seems to evolve as new things take my interest. Most recently I have been using aspects of collage to further my work. Last year I championed digital collage and I have been continuing with this, but I found that I needed something to offset the hours of computer work digital collage demands. As a result I am developing a portfolio of more traditionally handprinted images, made by printing a plate which has been constructed in a similar way to a collage.
Tools & Materials
The two aspects of my current work are performed in the two rooms of my studio.
In the office I use an Apple Mac and Apple iPad linked to a large format pigment ink printer to create the more technology based digital collages I do. I use a variety of software programs, often working between the tablet and the computer.
In my workroom things are a bit messier, and it's there I am developing collagraphed prints – using some strange and wonderful household materials to create card based printing plates. I also have two second hand die-cutting machines which I use as cheap, but effective, printing presses.

Spring Fling Activity
I will have my workbench set up for printing and my notebooks/print plates available, so that people can see how I build a plate up.
