About My Practice

My work is thrown on the potters wheel then glazed and fired to high stoneware temperatures. I have been making pots for over 25 years now, with tableware being the foundation of my practice. Decoration is inspired by local land and seascapes, sometimes more experimental with the use of sgraffito, slip decoration and multiple firings.

Tools & Materials

My studio is next door to my home in Kirkpatrick Durham. I have a showroom for finished work with adjoining workshop and a purpose built kiln shed in the garden. All my work is thrown on the potters wheel. I use a basic range of tools, some handmade, that I’ve collected over the years. I use a high firing stoneware clay, which is reduction fired in gas kilns.
