Alistair Hamilton
I am a photographer based in Kirkcudbright. I use photography to create work full of pattern, detail and texture based on the natural and human-made environment. My subjects are often common things in plain, but which go unobserved. I want my work to give others an idea how the world appears to me.

About My Practice
I almost always have a camera with me (I like a small camera that can fit in my pocket). Most of my photographs are unplanned; I photograph things that I come across which interest me. I process images from my camera in my studio to create work ready for printing. I carry out all steps in the process from taking to printing.
Tools & Materials
My work starts with image files created in a digital camera. I process these files using software tools, which give me scope to determine the work’s final look. I make prints using archival inks on a range of heavyweight papers.
