Jesse Ball

Jewellery inspired by archaeological treasures, weathered and improved upon by the elements and natural textures and forms. My work often starts with a narrative or folk tale, I'm interested in the way objects can hold meaning and value not just through the materials used, but also through their history and use. I make one of a kind gold and silver pieces as well as bespoke wedding and fine jewellery.

About My Practice

Ancient artefacts, textures from the natural world and treasures long forgotten inspire my initial creative process. I create jewellery in an intuitive and organic way, often designing directly with the materials rather than using preliminary sketches – I carve and sculpt pieces in wax to then be cast into precious metals. Gold, silver, and precious gems are used to make my collections of talismans, bespoke and wedding jewellery. I’ve also recently been experimenting with larger household objects.

Tools & Materials

I use traditional jewellers tools such as piercing saws, files and a pendant drill as well as wax carving equipment. My partner and I built my workshop on a trailer which means I'm fully mobile with my business and it enables me to easily travel between my two homes of Morayshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
