Linda Irving
I have lived on the stunning Mull of Galloway for nine years. I have a studio and two galleries where I exhibit my work and teach. My degree in fine art has given me the passion to create and I have been feltmaking now for some twenty years.

About My Practice
Using photography, sketches and watercolours I gather in sketchbooks, I aim to accurately reflect the beauty of the area I live in with some detailed abstraction and play on colour. The art form of wet feltmaking allows me to achieve the colour, texture and form I have strived for and it is ever evolving. It is a very physical process. I now show at a gallery in Kirkcudbright and offer many workshops in and around Dumfries and Galloway. My art career is ever evolving and encompasses 2D and 3D work and I am investigating encorporating another medium into feltmaking.
Tools & Materials
I work from my studio which can house a few people for workshops. I have a large array of raw materials. I use merino fibre, silk, mulberry silk, hand spun wool yarns, mulberry paper for feltmaking and I only need water and soap to achieve my results, the physicality of felting is hard but very rewarding.
