Rhiannon Dewar
As an artist I love to focus on the macabre through the lens of hyper-femininity and child-like wonder. Using pastel tones to tint the painful, I want to revel in the guts of morbidity and enjoy the sweet treats it gives me. Welcome to the uncanny valley.

About My Practice
With a focus on darker themes, such as death, eating disorders and depression, wrapped in a pink, sticky, bubble-gum residue and topped with whipped cream. Enthralled with the aesthetic of romanticised, hyper-feminine horror – shrouded in pink, sparkles and human organs. Lately, my work has been installation-based, focusing on the bubble-worlds that exist within my maladaptive-daydreaming (disordered form of dissociative absorption). These bubble-installations aim to recreate the pocket-worlds and characters that dwell within them, that I have created over a lifetime of fleeing a reality that makes little sense, hidden behind years’ worth of learning to mask.
Tools & Materials
My work ranges from painting and prop-making to performance and installation. Installation spaces are created to be interactive, with handmade props and sculptures and character performances.
Prints, original paintings, books and sculptures available for purchase.
