Scott McFarlane
I retired as Head Teacher in 2020 and have been growing food and painting full-time since then. I have exhibited a number of times in the last six years and enjoyed Artists residencies in the Highlands and on Skye. I draw and paint everyday.

About My Practice
My work begins outside, under a tree, sitting amongst the rocks or tucked into a hillside. I work fast and enjoy making bold marks and textures by adding various media in one piece. I feel working outside amongst the elements brings an authenticity to my work that using photographs or the comfort of a heated room can’t match.
Tools & Materials
Watercolours, inks, charcoal, soft pastels, oil pastels, graphite, oil paint, natural inks, wax, sea water, sticks, stones and sand.
Most work starts and is completed outside. Some pieces are refined and “finished” in my studio in my home.
