I create intricate contemporary textiles inspired by Scotland’s Coastal Landscape.

My Practice

I interpret the landscape through print, making unique hand printed fabrics using various printing techniques. I then combine the fabrics using free motion machine embroidery.

Tools & Materials

Through lockdown I was unable to access a studio space so I decided the time had come to construct a studio in my garden. I use my studio to work in mixed media, but my main focus is textiles. I have an area for printing and getting messy and a clean area for doing my free motion machine embroidery.

Spring Fling Activity

As part of the Spring Fling Exhibition I will be demonstrating some of the techniques that I use when printing onto fabric. I will also have some sewing machines set up for people to try their hand at free motion machine embroidery, so please come and have a go.
