Rebecca J Woods
I'm Rebecca, a potter based in Moffat, working from my studio in my back garden. While my virtual studio offers a glimpse into my process, nothing beats seeing it all come to life in person! During the Spring Fling Weekend, I invite you to step into my space, see me work, and explore my work displayed in the gallery room. Come and share in the joy of making!

About My Practice
I work using the intricate Mishima technique, where I imprint delicate patterns into the clay and inlay them with coloured slips, using my own handmade stamps. I create both decorative and functional stoneware, including bud vases, ginger jars, moon jars, bowls, mugs, pouring bowls, and brooches. I develop and make all my own glazes, i enjoy the soft tones of Corncockle mauve and Seaglass pale green.
Tools & Materials
I primarily use the potter's wheel, although lately I've found myself rediscovering the joy of hand building. My clay is buff stoneware clay, and I blend stoneware buff with black clay to create unique textures and tones. I fire with an electric kiln, to high temperatures, reaching up to 1260 degrees Celsius to achieve the desired finish and durability.
